Snote,
I played QB during my time at USL. I walked on in the spring of 75 (talked into it by a good friend from Rayne). I think I was 8th or 9th string QB when I walked on and then due to a combination of injuries, a few breaks and a transfer I started the spring game! I made the traveling squad as the 3rd string QB in 75 and then backed up Roy in 76 & 77. What a talent he was! People don't realize just how good he was or could have been! Me, I was happy to be on the team playing the only position I could given my lack of size and speed (best time in the 40 was 4.7). They put me on scholarship after the Lamar game in 75. I was literally thrown into the game near the end of the 3rd or beginning of the 4th quarter. Our O.C. (Larry Zeno) bypassed Barry Pollard (Juco from California) and told me to take off my baseball cap and put down the clipboard because I was going in the game! Wow, I still get goosebumps thinking about that night! I ended up scoring the go ahead TD and Barry Johnson sealed the victory with a INT for a TD! We both got game balls. Barry is a good freind, though he likes to remind me of the fact I walked on and didn't play that much...but hey, I was an All-American holder! I held for Rafael for two years and John Reveto my Sr. year. I figure if the kicker makes All-American, the holder does too! LOL!
Of course, I know all the guys you mentioned in your reply. Steve Judice and I are great friends. He is one of the guys I usually hook up with during home leave. Same for Jimmy Poche, David Goff & David Gray. John Bordelon and I had a falling out a long time ago. Things are better now, but we don't see each other enough to get back to having the same relationship as before. I'll have to work on that when we do move back for good.
Not sure what you mean being on the show, are you talking about while I'm in the States or from Kuala Lumpur? Either way is fine with me. I have few stories to tell, if you are interested.
