The tropical disTurbinece that worked across the Atlantic last week, is now located over the eastern Caribbean Sea. There is no closed circulation, nor are pressures dropping in the area, so it's just a tropical wave. There have been flare ups of thunderstorm activity near the tropical wave this morning.
The National Hurricane Center only puts a 20% chance for development in this region over the next 24 hours, but some of the exclusive computer models we use here in the StormTeam3 WeatherLab indicate some pressures dropping in that region tomorrow or Wednesday. It's uncertain if the area of development is along the tropical wave, or an area of increased activity farther southeast near Trinidad.
As this tropical wave moves westward, conditions may be more favorable for development. Some models bring the area of disturbed weather near Jamaica in four days. Waters south of Cuba and through the Yucatan channel are very warm, and wind shear is forecast to be low in those areas later this week. Elsewhere in the Atlantic Basin, conditions are quiet.
