    Default Tom Petty

Great new album by Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers. One of their best ever. Rock, Country blues, even some reggae. Check out video on "Making of Mojo".

I'm a die hard punk and ska kid, but, seriously, its almost impossible to overlook the immense talent that Tom Petty has as a muscian and artist. Its not very common to find real musicians in the popular music scene these days, and he really is one of those few.

Agreed, I have always enjoyed his work.

As an aside, when I attended my sister's graduation at the University of Florida in the 90's, she was house sitting for a graduate student that was renting a house buried in a wooded block in the middle of Gainesville near campus. We stayed in the house for the weekend. It was Tom Petty's home growing up. I stayed in his room, which was an interesting hideaway and former attic.

Yes, I am little biased when it comes to TP&HB's. They've always been one of my favorites since 1976. Think the band is a little underrated, Tom gets all the credit, but Mike Campbell is exceptional guitar player, Benmont is great on keyboards and Steve and Ron great rythym section, Scott Thurston great utility player and backup singer.
I've seen them live numerous times and going again in Sept. to see them in Houston. You really can't appreciate how good they are until you see them live. Besides, ZZ Top is opening act for their show in Houston. Figure if ZZ Top is your opening act in Houston, you must be doing something right!
