Four sightings of a black bear has been reported this week in Ville Platte. Residents are being warned to take precaution while outside.

The first sighting was reported Monday after 6 a.m. on West Wilson Street. A single track verified a bear may have been in the area.
The next report was received 10 p.m. Monday on Beauregard Street, and early Tuesday morning on West Wilson Street. The caller believed she had seen a large animal in the area.
Another sighting was made on State Street Tuesday Evening. In the other three sightings, authorities conducted a search but could not verify if a bear had been in the area.
If anyone sees the bear, Do not approach it. CALL THE POLICE DEPARTMENT OR 911.
