BATON ROUGE, La. (AP) - State lawmakers have agreed to create a
specialized license plate to show support for the Super Bowl
champion New Orleans Saints.
The bill by New Orleans Rep. Jeff Arnold won final passage
Tuesday and heads next to Gov. Bobby Jindal, who supports it.
"World Champion New Orleans Saints" license plates would cost
$50 every two years on top of the traditional fees for a plate
charged by the state Office of Motor Vehicles. The first 300 plates
are reserved for the Saints to buy.
The dollars raised by license plate sales will go to the
Louisiana Stadium and Exposition District to repay the state for
upgrades to the Superdome or to pay the district's expenses for
operating the Superdome and other facilities.
