Dayton told me that he really struggled with the decision to leave. But he got what he wanted from the Blue Jays, who will pay for the rest of college.
Well that's great to hear, now it's time for Thad Griffen to step up into daytons role from this yr as a long relief/closer. I think he can do what Dayton did if he stays healthy.

A key piece of the Ragin' Cajuns pitching staff next season is going to be missing as Dayton Marze was drafted in the 14th round of the MLB draft last week by the Toronto Blue Jays.
Marze is leaving UL and signing with the Blue Jays. He's headed out of town tomorrow to Florida where he'll undergo physicals. He'll then be placed in either rookie ball or with a short season team in New York. As a redshirt sophomore, the former Teurlings Rebel was five and four with two saves for the Cajuns this past season.
With Satriano likely becoming a starter next year and Marze going pro, Griffen should have every opportunity to be the closer in 2011.
Griffen has the grit and stuff that you need in a closer. He's a throwback player and brings an attitude to the field. Not enough guys like that out there anymore.
Dayton Marze kept his options open after getting drafted last week in the 14th round by the Toronto Blue Jays.
Marze had two choices: He could sign with the Blue Jays and begin his pro career or return to UL for his final two years of college eligibility.
In the end, Toronto made the athletic right-hander an offer he could not refuse.

Best wishes in the pros.
