The National Hurricane Center said this morning that there’s a 60 percent chance a weather system off the coast of Africa could develop into a tropical system.

An area of low pressure 1,425 miles east-southeast of the Windward Islands continues to show signs of organization.
Conditions are expected to remain conducive for development over the next day or so as the system moves west-northwest to northwest at about 15 miles per hour.

There remains a high chance, about 60 percent, of the system becoming a tropical cyclone in the next 48 hours, the National Hurricane Center reported.
