Yes, it was created just for us and that and the numbers are copyrighted. They're supposed to look like they are on fire, as depicted in the Hot Wheels logo.

I thought UL Monroe was joining the SunBelt. If that's correct, how can we avoid having "Lafayette" as part of our visible name?

I'm with you though, I'd much prefer if the word "Lafayette" was not part of the name!

we are supposed to but the athletic director (shexneider) approved them so now we dont have to have lafayette on them

UL Football How to get people to the UNT game

Ok, we've offically hit the slow summer period, and since im having posting withdrawls I've decided to come up with some things that UL could do to work with the community and local high schools to get more butts in the seats for the Nov. 5 game vs. UNT.

    1. Offer to host the various jamborees at Cajun Field at no charge. If you have gone to a jamboree before, you have probably realized that high school stadiums are just too small to hold that many people. If the jamboree was held at Cajun Field, it could hold all those people, plus the fact that it was at Cajun Field would mean many more people would show up, which would mean more money would be given to the various schools around Acadiana. Also, it gives the kids a chance to play in a big-time atmosphere. This would be done in exchange for an earlier start time for the high school games on the night of the UNT game. Basically, in exchange for the increase in publicity and revenue, they move their games up an hour or two.

    2. Make that night "UL Night" for the high school games, and "High School Night" at Cajun Field. FOr the high school games, UL could buy some cheap footballs or cups for the cheerleaders to throw at the crowd that say UL on them. The PA announcer could mention the game a few times during the game. And maybe at halftime competitions could be held with the winner winning tickets to the game or UL merchandise. All of these things can be done for relatively cheap. Then for the UL game, tickets could be half off with a ticket stub or student ID.

    3. EVERY RADIO STATION should be there, broadcasting live all day long, giving away prizes all day long (provoded at minimal cost bu UL), and encouraging everyone to call in sick and go tailgating. After all, it is friday? Also, have the two TV morning shows broadcast live from Cajun Field. And none of this would cost much money. Those shows are always trying to find ways to get behind the community.

    4. This was mentioned earlier, and it was a very good idea. Move Downtown Alive to Cajun Field. If the downtown area will lose out on revenue as a result, offer them spaces to sell their goods at Cajun Field. Instead of marketing to 2,000 people, they would be marketing to about 15,000.

Most of this is wishful thinking, but maybe some of these things can happen. What do you think?

    Nice ideas. When are jamborees?

Im not too sure about exact dates, but they are usually a week or two before high school football games start.

  12. UL Football Therral Hatfield leaving. Who is Therral Hatfield?

Does anyone know anything about a UL football player named Therral Hatfield? Is he related to former UL basketball coach Jim Hatfield?

I found where a Therral Hatfield was on the UL Deans list in Business Administration for the spring semester.

But I can't find where he was on Louisiana's football team. I ask because the Indiana Statesman is reporting that HAtfield is transfering from UL to ISU. Exact quote is; "Hatfield will transfer after spending one season on the roster at the University of Louisiana-Lafayette for the Ragin' Cajuns." link

It also states "Therral Hatfield. Hatfield is a 5-foot-11, 200-pound running back from New Orleans." . . . "In high school, Hatfield was an All-District player for De La Salle High School during his sophomore and junior seasons."

I never heard of him, can't find him on any UL list (I try to save them all) and now he is gone to Indiana State. Perhaps ISUCajunfan will know something.
