Z.
It was hard to recognize him without the crazy glasses.
Yeah but I could pick out that mul a mile away.
Maybe its just me but last years intro they played right before the players run onto the field was pretty bad..I sure hope they come up with something good for this year.
Bustle has only been at Louisiana for 2 full seasons, he is about to begin his 3rd. He has won 3 and 4 games respectively. Can we expect 6 or 7 this year?
Below is a look at (his mentor) Frank Beamer's steady increase in wins at Virginia Tech, and coach Bustles first 2 years at Louisiana.
As of right now Rickey Bustle is ahead of where Frank Beamer was at the same stage in building their programs. Of course Bustle was a part of both and that is the only reason this is relevant.
Great graphic Turbine...
I think there will be an improvement this year... but not just because of history repeating itself...
I remember before the 1993 season, the defensive coaching staff stating that they were going to switch to an "ATTACK" style of defense rather than a "READ & REACT"
That changed the opponents rushing yards per game... a lot.
Opponents were averaging 193.7 yards per game in 1992, and after the change... in 1993 oppenents averaged only 88.6
Opponents had 130 1st downs by rushing in 1992 in 1993 that number dropped to 71.
While moving into the pass-happy Big West accounted for some of this... The ATTACK style fit the personnel.
The Cajuns have tremendous athletes on the D-Line and turning them loose is a great plan, especially with a more experienced Defensive backfield.
Last season opposing teams rushed for an average of 215.8 yards per game.
Ball control matters and the differential for the Cajuns in 2003 was almost 100 yards per game.
Insert a an aggressive 4-3 alignment and a committment to use multiple backs and a ball-control offense... Babb is also going to average more than last season's 193.3 yards per game passing and his 61+% completion percentage is exactly what Bustle wants...
I look for a turnaround this season, with some early road wins that will surprise a few people.
And that will make your chart prophetic... we just need to avoid a year 6 skid...
OUCH!
Wow nothing like a comparison from someone who was right there. I like it.
ps I don't want to jump to far ahead but Y6 will be 2007AB (After Babb)
kinda like 1990AB (After Brian)
Great Stats, Turbine. I picked the Cajuns to go 7-4 which would continue the Bustle climb and outpace Beamer. I believe that the right seven games can and will get Cajun fans to New Orleans in December.
that's some pretty interesting comparison. I think he can get it done.
Also, North Texas predicted to win conference...again. No big surprise. Imagine if, uh... when, we pull off the huge upset on national TV......
