    UL Basketball Greenfields Rankings

Withe Saturdays win and Rices Loss we jumped ahead of them in the rankings. Our RPI is also climbing!! If we win out the rest of the season I think our RPI will be close to an at large bid! But we will win the tournament anyway!

    51. Villanova (12-7) 84.252 0-3 1-1 3-2
    52. Kent (14-3) 84.000 0-0 1-1 1-0
    53. Oregon (11-6) 83.753 0-2 0-2 3-0
    54. Rutgers (13-7) 83.737 1-2 0-3 3-1
    55. Ul Lafayette (11-5) 83.490 0-1 0-2 0-1
    56. Troy St (15-4) 83.421 0-1 0-0 2-1
    57. Tennessee (11-8) 83.365 1-7 1-0 1-1
    58. Hawaii (15-4) 83.265 0-0 2-1 2-2
    59. Geo Washington (13-8) 83.260 0-3 1-2 3-0

If we win out and finish 20-5 with at least one sunbelt tournement win I would be shocked if we were denied a at-large bid. A win over Rice can help our cause.

    UL Basketball At-Large difficult

Even if we run the table and lose in the tourney finals, I still don't think we get the at-large bid. That is the tragedy of the early ineligibles. Should we lose the tourney we are a lock for the NIT.

As someone who has followed this stuff for many years, all I can tell you is that the only way we get in the Big Dance will be to win the SBC Tournament.
    Some reasons:
Our RPI would have to be 50 or below to have a chance at an at large. this cannot happen with our remaining schedule. You have to remember that several of "Automatic bid" teams will have a RPI above 65. For everyone of those teams let in, it eliminates a sub-65 RPI team. Example; If UL does not win the tournament and a Belt team gets in other than UL, they will most likely have an RPI of at least 125-150. Then you have conferences like the Southland, their representative could have a 200+ Rpi. This does not seem fair, but it is what makes the Big Dance the true "open for all" championship. I hope it never changes because if it does, the mid-majors are the ones that will suffer. We just need to win out, then win the Conference Tournament.

these rankings will lag behind all year for us. the team on the floor now is not the 6-man rotation that lost 4 games. that's cool though. Maybe Rice doesn't know we are closer to top 25 than to 50.
