A Basile man is without his car today, but is thankful for what he does have. Daryl Francois was carjacked around 12:30 Wednesday morning at Tropical Car Wash in Eunice. The suspect threatened him with a knife and demanded his car.
"As soon as he walked up and I saw he had a weapon i thought of my son. i was thinking he wouldn't let me get him out and he would take off with my son," Francois said.
Francois says he sprayed the suspect with a pressure washer but it did not stop the man from trying to take the car. Francois also tried reaching for a gun he had in his vehicle, but the suspect told him to stop or he would cut him.
Francois then asked if he could at least take his two year old son, Corbin out of the back seat. The suspect not only let him take the child out of the car, but let him take his other personal belongings, like his cell phone and wallet.
A State Trooper drove by and Francois flagged him down to let him know he had just been carjacked. The trooper contacted Eunice Police who is now investigating the incident.
The vehicle is a 2001 Pontiac Firebird with Louisiana license plate #NZL 833. The suspect is described as a white male, about 5'8" or 5'9" tall with blonde hair and green eyes. Francois says the suspect was wearing a green shirt with blue jeans and covered part of his face with a T-shirt.Call Eunice Police at 457-2626 or 457-6528 if you have information about the suspect or the vehicle.
