we need bigger d lineman and linebackers. i remember in the late 80's we had linebackers that were around 235lbs clifford champ, rudy pennimon, randy guidry.on offense we will never win anything until we get a rb that is worth a darn.

As far as running backs we have a decent stable right now, Levier and Rubin are going to be good. LB's is what’s scary, is their any chance for Venable to be moved back to LB for next year? He's an ideal inside LB (big, strong, fast, and mean). If not who's going to plug the holes next year?
They have 3 linebackers who were redshirted this year. They probably will add one junior college linebacker next year.

I think the situation should be evaluated by Coach Bustle at the end of the season. After this season, we cannot keep saying we do not have the players. Next year will be year 4 with Pry as DC. Most all of Baldwin's recruits will be gone by next season and truthfully most are gone from the defense already. We need some great recruits on defense and the one's already there to step up big time next year. We lose C.C. Brown, Antwain Spann, Ken Haynes, Travis Bass, Ricky Thomas, Stanley Smith and Chris Klock.Originally posted by Corndog308
Do you think Brent Pry is going to be released after this season? Something HAS to be done about our defense.
hadnot should be a good player but he is listed under 6 feet and 195 he's more of a ss
I thought that was what he was recruited for but he played LB in fall drills. I have heard only good things about him, he is said to be a hellava hitter.Originally posted by diggler

nothing against wes simon, but he is playing lb for a d1 school and he might weigh 200 lbs. we just dont have any playmakers other than db's
Size and speed at linebacker and defensive line are what we need, whether they are redshirting are not, next year the D has to improve greatly!!! Heck they have to improve for Saturday and then the next 4 games. Anything is possible!!!!!

14) Because we are due to have a good defensive showing!!!
Arkansas State (2-5) at UL Lafayette (3-4), 5 pm ET
Why to watch: Despite a 2-5 record and a loss to MTSU, Arkansas State is still in the Sun Belt race as long as it doesn't slip the rest of the way. It's coming off a stunning 13-9 win over Troy and looking to take advantage of a UL Lafayette team on a two-game losing streak.
Why Arkansas State might win: The Ragin' Cajuns aren't all that bad, but they've gone cold as the defense has allowed 107 points in the last three games. ASU hasn't shown a whole bunch of pop on offense, but it has enough talent to put up some points if the Lafayette defense continues to play at its current level.
Why UL Lafayette might win: Lafayette beat MTSU 24-17 while MTSU beat Arkansas State 45-17. ASU's defense did a great job against Troy, but it hadn't done much against anyone else allowing 41 per game before last week. The Indiana pass defense is horrible and should give up a huge day to star QB Jerry Babb.
Who to watch: ASU RB Antonio Warren is having a fantastic, but relatively unnoticed year rushing for 628 yards and five touchdowns. He's been red hot over the last five games averaging 117 yards per outing. If he doesn't run for at least 100, ASU can't win.
What will happen: UL Lafayette will stop its slide with a decent home performance as Jerry Babb will throw for 300 yards.
CFN Prediction: UL Lafayette 31 ... Arkansas State
27 ... Line: UL Lafayette -3
