Dont know if you are serious or not, but yes, NSU should be very good this year.
We cant afford to overlook anyone just yet. :^)

this game comes with serious pressure to win..
not sure if he will be of any significance although a freshman qb ricky joe meeks from SMU just transfered to the demons.. believe they only had 2 on their roster.. he will be eligible to play
First of all thanks for noticing the counter.Originally posted by WebWatchDog
If the counter is right we have 108 days till UL faces NSU in the Herbert Heymann Football Classic. Are they any good?
Is NSU any good? Well last year they beat Monroe and UL didn't, they also came within 4 points of beating Tulane.
They did finish the year poor and UL finished the year strong, but I do know Louisiana can't take them lightly. The Ragin' Cajuns will using a new scheme on defense and may have trouble getting the kinks out.
Here is a link to their game by game stats. 2003 Northwestern Demons TEAM STATS
Here is the scoop on NSU, YES, they should be very good this coming year. Last year they were very young and still had a 6-6 record, and things just fell apart at the end of the year. Being a year older and with almost all of the starters returning the Demons should be in a position to make a run for the National Championship in 1-AA. Also they had about 8 prop kids last season that sign with NSU that were SEC type athletes and from what I been hearing they all should be eligible for this coming season. That should add depth.
It should be a great game. NSU will test the defense of UL. If UL wins look for great things to come for the rest of the season (a trip to New Orleans). I also believe and I've said this before and no one agrees with me, but I think UL has a better chance of winning the Tech game then the NSU game, even with the Tech game in Ruston.
I graduated and ran track at NSU and I've become a fan of UL (lived in the area the last 7 years). But on Sept. 4th my blood will be purple. After that, it will be back to red.
at first glance you can see there will be some good story lines also to the game.. to name a few:
cajuns mark risher and demons ray martin were seniors together at st thomas more -- think baab gave them the time of day? (tee-hee)
a pair of brothers.. cajuns derek morel -- demons connor morel (high school alums with new basketball coach)
wonder who the head fb guy at terlings will be pulling for as his son dane plays wr with northwestern
Think Coach Bustle realizes the ramifications???? LOL!!
No disrespect to NSU, but it still galls me that we have to worry about a game like this......
How stupid was that J Baldwin hire? STUPID, STUPID, STUPID!!!!!!
That being said, look for na hardn fought ballgame between 2 well coached teams.
Best of Luck to the Demons..

11/20 at HawaiiBelieve it or not, there once was a time when Idaho wasn't all that bad. In fact, Idaho was a regular fixture in the D-IAA Playoffs in the early-1990s getting into the post-season five times from 1990 to 1995. Little did anyone know that a key member of the coaching staff was cementing his roots for the future.
New head coach Nick Holt coached the Idaho defensive line from 1990 to 1994 and was the defensive coordinator from 1994 to 1997 before going off to become the defensive line coach at Louisville and the linebacker coach at USC under Pete Carroll. If you want to win, you hire a winner and that's what Holt is. Or, at least, winning programs have been what Holt has been a part of.
Sometimes there needs to be a breath of fresh air, and that's what Holt provides with an intensity and exuberance that only young first-time head coaches can bring. If you're a bad team in the Sun Belt, you're one of the worst teams in college football and that's what Holt and his coaching staff have to change around in a hurry. It's not that Idaho didn't try hard under former head coach Tom Cable, it's that there weren't any positive results. A team can quickly become a contender in the Sun Belt. For Vandal fans excited about the coaching change, the only question now is when that starts to happen.

How exactly is Arkansas State doing this? Granted, the the last two years weren't winning seasons going 11-14 under head coach Steve Roberts, but the record is impressive considering the things the team has had to overcome. While other Sun Belt teams (look into New Mexico State and Utah State) had enough talent to be in the mix for the Sun Belt title, they've found way to gag it away. Arkansas State lost many of its top players, gave the ball away like it was made out of anthrax, had a brutal schedule, and went through some rough patches highlighted by a two-game mid-season stretch losing to Ole Miss and Utah State by a combined score of 104-0, yet still came away with five wins.
This year's team has to find a way to keep winning close games even though there's little experience on defense and the offense has to find ways to consistently move the ball. As decent as the five-win season of 2003 might seem, two victories came against D-IAA teams and the three D-I wins came by a grand total of eight points. ASU has been on the verge of a winning season, and now it's time, even with all the issues it has, to try and become more of a player in the Sun Belt.
