This is a copy of the Lafayette consolidated government's budget, how much the government spends, on what, and what organizations get assistance.
Under a new rule, a non profit organization can still get help, but the money won't come from taxes. Instead those funds will come from the fees Lafayette collects from cable companies.
And non profit groups will no longer plead their case for money to the president and council of the LCG, but to a new group-- a special panel with the one task of picking and choosing, who gets help and how much, and under this proposal there would be 5 board members to review applications.

LCG President Joey Durel explained the Council will not pick the candidates, the director of community planning will create the board.
This new policy will affect cultural organizations like PASA: The Performing Arts Society of Acadiana. PASA is not soley dependant on government money, but every year the few thousand dollars PASA gets from the government is used for various performances.
"We do support this change because it puts everyone on the same playing field," a PASA spokeswoman told KATC in response to this story.
