When will we be able to host the Basketball tourney here in Lafayette. Our facilities are great so why do we keep playing in Kentucky? I know a few years ago we had it here and it was great. And once they build that hotel right across the street from the cajundome it will be ideal. Make those Kentucky fans drive their _____e$ to lafayette for a change! They could even dance on our court! Promise not to throw anything...... This really makes me angry! It is such an advantage to have your home crowd there behind you every game. To give them that advantage two years in a row just doesn't seem right!!!1

I agree. This is completley unfair. I don't see the problem so much as UL not getting to host it, as WKU getting that tremendous home court advantage to get in to the NCAA's twice in a row. Of course remeber what happened the last time the cajuns visited Diddle?

Yeah but beating them twice on their home court, with more fans in the stands this time will be very hard!!!!

The reason we don't host the SBC tourney is because it is the same week as the Top 28. I have often asked people about which brings in more money, the Top 28 or the SBC tourney. No one seems to have a definite answer.

The reason WKU hosts the tourney is because they bid more for it. If UL wants it, we need to put up a high bid.

If we want to host it, the CajunDome cannot host the LHSAA Top 28 tournament. The SBC tourney and Top 28 are the same weekend. Since the bid for the top 28 lasts for two years, the CajunDome won't bid on the SBC tourney unless it knows it won't get the Top 28.

It may be the same weekend this year, but that is not always the case. We have hosted the SBC tournament and the Top 28 in the same year before.

The year before last, Jessie had the basketball banquet (which is always after the tournament) on the same weekend as the top 28.

More often than not, the major conflict for hosting the SBC tournament is Mardi Gras, not the top 28.

OR, we can dance on their sacred floor after the championship game and then maybe they won't bid on it next year.

The day that the Sun Belt tournament becomes as lucrative for the Cajundome as either of those events, it will be considered.
