Great news! Glad he went that high, especially as a senior
I'm sure the game in Austin this week didnt hurt his stock.![]()
My old friend Jim Callis, executive editor of Baseball America, expected Zach to go after the 10th round. Glad he was wrong, although not by much. Zach has shown tremendous durability and will be able to contribute as a starter or out of the bullpen if needed. His versatility is matched by his internal drive and pitch movement.
Way to go Oz. Hope to see him in the big leagues soon.
By my count he was one of the first 15 Senior pitchers taken. 9th round certainly isnt bad.
In other news, Dischler has not yet been selected into the 10th round
This isn't over yet. A team could still take Dischler and pay him above slot (more money than that round usually pays). Dischler wants to play pro ball, but he's prepared to attend UL if the draft doesn't work out.
Josh, what about Marze. I havent seen his name come up yet either. Are u a little suprised he hasnt been picked?
Marze isn't ready to go pro yet. He has a good fastball, but it's not good enough yet for him to rely on it. He hasn't shown he has a secondary pitch he trusts enough.
I hope Dischler keeps falling for my own selfish reasons.
Right, but his fastball isn't good enough to be drafted really high on just that.
Louisiana senior pitcher Zach Osborne was taken on day two of the the Major League Baseball First-Year Player Draft on Tuesday. Osborne was the 286th overall pick by the Texas Rangers in the ninth round.
