ROBERT, La. (AP) - Federal officials responding to a massive oil
spill in the Gulf of Mexico say no dead, oiled birds have been
found in Texas.
Authorities at an oil spill command center in Robert, La., said
Monday that a tally it released Sunday was incorrect.
Petty Officer 1st Class Zach Zubricki, a command center
spokesman, says authorities are still trying to determine the cause
of the error.
Texas General Land Office spokesman Jim Suydam says there were
no reports of oiled birds in Texas. He says the spill's westernmost
limit is about 100 miles east of the Texas-Louisiana border.
The April 20 explosion of the Deepwater Horizon rig off
Louisiana triggered the worst oil spill in U.S. history.
