UL vs. UT

To play the number two team in the nation - on their own turf - as close as we did - in front of their own crowd - when it really counted - does NOT deserve any such label as MEDIOCRITY!!

I believe we'll get the job done tomorrow in game one, because I know these warriors wearing UL uniforms want just one more stab at UT.

_ Diehard, i disagree. Our boys did compete tonight! True we did not get the hits we needed, but there is a reason the longhorns only have 11 loses on the year and the no. 1 era in the country.

As Robe and Augie said in the post game interviews, a couple of mistakes here or there and the outcome is different.

I wasn't talking about competing tonight. I was talking about competing consistently. Sure, we competed tonight, but our program can't compete with teams like Texas. We are never going to have the athletes that they have year in and year out. We would have had to have the "perfect storm" type of regional where we play over our heads. We don't have the depth to come back through the loser's bracket.

Considering there are around 250 schools who play baseball, we are well above average and not a "mediocre" program by any means. That is especially true if you consider the great majority of the 32 who won yesterday are from BCS leagues which have a multitude of resources greater than the Cajuns. Now if you say, our goal should be to be an elite program, I will agree. That does not mean we are a "mediocre" program.

My take on last night's game... we played like a BCS giant. We need to stop acting like dumbasses on this forum and start appreciating when we do things very, very well. Even in the 8th inning. Did anyone notice how nasty their closer pitched? Even with Keefer not swinging at that last pitch. Until and unless I am looking down the barrel of that gun will I be able to tell whether Keefer should have even attempted to battle that pitch. The guy was clearly trying to keep the ball away from Keefer's power. Personally, I think the guy threw a nasty pitch well off the plate and the ump got caught up in the crowd noise.

I get pretty bummed with some of the guys on here that talk big talk about us not battling like a giant. We played like giants last night. Texas had nothing on us. A couple of stray pitches and two Texans go yard. That was the difference in the game.

It's Sunday and we are still playing baseball. Geaux Cajuns... time to turn up the heat on the Rice!

Hence the reason we are a mid major program. If we did have the athletes and depth, we would be in Omaha competing for championships year in and year out.
