Kaplan - Hazel Vincent named as ‘Citizen of the Month’
Councilman Kevin Guidry nominated Ms. Hazel Vincent as the May “Citizen of the Month”.
She was married to Roy Vincent who passed away in 1972.
Together, they have two sons, Conroy and Devon.
Born in Lafayette on Mary 18, 1919, the family moved to Kaplan when she was five years old.
She started school at the age of six in a small four room wooden building.
In 1936, Ms. Hazel graduated from Kaplan High School and continued her studies in education at SLI.
She began teaching in Wright in 1939 and described he it as “fun, fun, fun.”
