BATON ROUGE, La. (AP) - One of two East Baton Rouge Parish
Prison inmates who escaped Tuesday has been captured in Port Allen.
A West Baton Rouge sheriff's deputy
attempted to pull over a vehicle Thursday night for having no
license plate when the vehicle fled, then crashed into a parked
18-wheeler on La. Highway 415.
Two men ran from the vehicle, but deputies caught one of the
men, identified as Leonard Thomas, one of the escapees.
Deputies say the second man, believed to be the second escapee,
Jeremy Ricard, fled into a wooded area nearby. He remains at large.
Authorities say Ricard and Thomas were working in the parish
prison kitchen before they escaped by climbing over a razor wire
fence at the facility.
