A former guidance counselor at Ascension Episcopal School is in custody tonight in Mississippi charged with soliciting sexual acts from a minor over the internet.
KATC first learned of the situation when the victim's family filed a lawsuit against the counselor, but at that time, there were no charges.
According to the F.B.I Dr. Allison Hargrave was arrested at a Mississippi rehab center and brought in on accusations of sending explicit emails soliciting sex to a minor. That crime can can carry a life sentence.
Back in March when the young female student's family filed a lawsuit against Hargrave, she resigned from the Ascension Episcopal school. The attorney representing the 8th grade girl's family says this charge now makes his case stronger.
The school issued a statement confirming Hargrave is no longer working there.
"Our first concern continues to be for our student and family communities and our hearts also go out to the families involved.
While we recognize there are a lot of questions, we do not have any additional information to provide.
We encourage patience as the judicial system continues its work."
