At the request of District Judge Kristian Earles, the members of the Acadia Parish Police Jury’s Building and Grounds Committee discussed the need for courthouse security, particularly necessary when criminal and civil court cases are underway.
A security committee earlier investigated the cost of beefing up courthouse security, but, at the time, the cost was considered excessive.
A sheriff’s deputy has been assigned to courthouse security, with Judge Earles noted, “We’re happy with the deputy who serves.”
