As you can see, I am still in favor of an all sports for all members conference and believe the best way is with a revised C-USA.
For the short run, we need to stay in the SBC. It will help out our baseball program (which CUSA needs) and playing some of the schools in the SBC will revive the football program, which is the focal point of admission into a new conference. But within 2 or 3 years, we NEED to be in CUSA. If there was some way to pay off Toolame and get them to vote us in CUSA, then we would be in. But I just can't see Toolame voting for us to be invited into CUSA right now.

I think our 10 year goal should be the SEC. That's right, the SEC.
We're already there in Baseball, Softball, and basketball. Football is laying the right ground work. (our current recruiting class may be in the top 40)
UL enrollment is larger than several SEC schools. And if most of the money in Lafayette stayed in Lafayette, we would be funded at the same level as many of the SEC schools. On paper we can get there. The problem will for the most part be the current closed minds of most people (this can change with a little time & success) and......well.....you know
We would have a better chance making it into the Big Twelve. Lsu-br would let us sniff a chance of the sec
Is CUSA what it once was?
Even if CUSA is a shell of its former self, how long will it take the Sunbelt to be what CUSA is now?

I would like to see us in Conference USA with North Texas
No joke we would have to add the upper deck on the student side. Has anyone ever talked about adding dorms into the architecture of Cajun Field?Originally posted by LativanCajun

I'm for staying in the SunBelt. It's not that bad a conference. We're just as good as the Wac and C-USA. The SunBelt will get it's second Bowl bid in the upcoming years, and once the basketball programs of other teams in our confernece pick up will be just as good as the MWC.
I vote for no less than CUSA, the sunbelt is a VERY BAD conference. You have no recruiting area or home games that anyone wants to see in sunbelt. I just returned from Tallahassee, Fl. and could not beleive it's about the same size as Lafayette. Someone told me that Coach Bowden said when he arived his SI department realy fired up the area and flooded the market with selling the program. We can do this.
I'm not gonna sit at a keyboard and "bad mouth" any conference. I remember too well our "Indy" days. I believe C-USA is a realistic goal; i.e., something that could be accomplished within a few years if we continue to make strides. Since there are also some "pipe dreams" here I'll put mine in. Long-term goal would be Big 12 for me; not just because I'm sitting in central Texas, but for reasons mentioned earlier -- LSU faithful would NEVER allow us in the SEC. Realistically there won't be an opportunity to join the Big 12. I don't see Baylor dropping out any time in the forseeable future.
