The suspense lasted only a few minutes into ESPN's Road to Omaha Selection Show on Monday morning before UL's baseball players and coaches learned about their postseason fate.
For the first time since 2007, the Ragin' Cajuns are among the 64 teams competing for a national championship.
UL (37-20) was sent to the NCAA Austin Regional as the No. 3 seed, joining No. 1 seed Texas (46-11), No. 2 seed Rice (38-21) and No. 4 seed Rider (36-21). The double-elimination regional starts Friday as the Sun Belt Conference co-champion Cajuns take on Rice at 1 p.m. before No. 2 national seed Texas faces Rider at Disch-Falk Field in Austin, Texas.
