Thread: NCAA Regional Host Site Projections (and National Seeds)

I've been reading the comparisons and I don't see any reason for the NCAA to not choose us. It would be awful to not have the conference champion from the 6th best conference in.

Working through my board in the early morning hours, I became a little uncomfortable as well. 4 to 5 teams on the inside (as closely as the ins and outs are to each other), is not a lot of room for comfort. But it is possible that the NCAA has us comfortably in due to the conference championship and the various RPI numbers (Overall, Non-Conf, Road, etc.).

It is interesting that BA has us easily in as does Rivals. These 15 teams are as close as I have ever seen.

Nothing we can do now but wait and see. There is no more analysis to be done.

I love that line. I hope I do not need to use it.

ESPN is the only one who has us out, would you agree that baseball america, rivals, and sebaseball do a better job?

    Yes.

If we are out, ESPN just guessed lucky. The reasoning they provided was nonsensical in its inconsistency (compared to how they evaluated other teams for the final spots). I do agree with them that Arizona could very well be in the field. But I opted to leave them out for the reasons I provided. You cannot have a bubble resume and play one non-conference road game all season. But the large conferences get unfairly rewarded at times. And the Pac-10 is #1 in RPI this season.

Jay is the team watching the show in the locker room? And if we are in, is there a coaches show tonight?

The ONLY thing that makes me feel better this time is that we are a conference champion (and our RPI is a little higher).

For the first time, I'm sweating a little.

I do believe that if we are in, it's a lock that we are in Austin. It is the only site within 400 miles....and we are the only #3 seed that is within the 400 mile limit. (Baylor is also, but they can't go to Austin.)

The only way we aren't in Austin is if Texas State somehow gets in. _

No show tonight because of the holiday. Tony will come on BEV tomorrow afternoon if we're in.

Not that these make much sense ... but here is another set of projections. Cajuns comfortably in the field here.

Kansas is not even eligible (27-27-1 in Div. I games) and thus should not be under consideration.

It seems that they did not perform a final run of the projections yesterday (dated 5/27).

    Jay,

Just a thought ... it might be interesting to interview Bobby Staub (one of the ten members of the selection committee) sometime this week to get his take on how the Sun Belt was represented (and evaluated) in the selection process and specifically how the Cajuns were evaluated.
