The below assumes that ...
1) St. John's will steal the Big East auto bid
2) Troy will steal the Sun Belt auto bid
3) Western Carolina will steal the Southern Conference auto bid
4) Hawaii will steal the WAC auto bid
I have 25 schools listed below battling for the final 10 at-large spots into the field of 64 (meaning I have 24 at-large bids locked into place). To get a sense of where the Cajuns will fall, eliminate 15 of the following 25 schools. You then have your field (including the last 10 into the tournament).
Note that for each case where the above four bid stealing scenarios does not occur, you can subtract one school from the 15 you are attempting to eliminate. The only caveat here is that you cannot pull back a bid for #4 not happening above (Hawaii losing to Fresno State in the WAC Tournament Final) and eliminate Fresno State from the group of 25 below (one of Hawaii or Fresno State will be in the field of 64).
Likewise, you cannot pull back a bid for #2 above and also eliminate Florida International.
Ex. #1, #2, and #3 do not happen above. You then need only eliminate 12 of the below 25 schools.
Here are your 25 schools ...
