Guess what they are conference champs, and going to a regional. Should we jus decline the invite and stay at home since we lost two in a row at the Sunbelt tourney?

What the hell are you talking about?! My overall objective is to simply point out that it isn't a minor hickup when you get shut out by a team that slept for 3 hours last night, and by a pitcher whom you lit up back at home. Also, we pitched our ace and "intended" to win.. Call Middle a good team all you want, but they are NOT going to a regional unless they win the whole thing.. They're not THAT good is my point.

WHEN YOU DON'T WIN WITH THESE CIRCUMSTANCES, ITS CAUSE FOR CONCERN.

This wasn't good for the Cajuns in more ways than one. Ya know what, take away the momentum factor, which does play a role in baseball (you ever heard the term, "Hitting is contagious"), We failed to even give Geith a chance to pitch in the tourney, which can be bad for him if he feels a little rusty with the long layover going into the next game.

I think we're all just wondering, how does a team not lose more than 2 games in a weekend series since April began, go on to lose 2 straight games in the conference tournament. Frustrating is the only word.

Thank god us super optimist have a realist to make sure we overreact to a baseball game...

    Phew.

Could it be maybe that u r a pessimist and not so much a realist

Anyway, yea, we lost.. move on.. but its the way we lost. And all of you know it. You super optimistic ppl need a reality check from time to time. I'm just stating the facts: there is reason to be concerned. Simply stated.

MTSU is playing for their regional lives, teams can do some impressive things with their backs up against the walls like pitch a complete game shutout.

Why don't you take a look at my posts for the past 5 years, and answer that question yourself..

The top 8 teams in the conference were separated by like 5 games. The field was wide open. We lost two. Go home regroup and get ready for the regional. What more is there to be concerened about:

is the team now magically different than guys who just won 17 of 18?

    Are they quitters?

Can they not play in big games?

    Did Robe screw up?

    What is your concern?

I didn't say any of those things, so stop putting words in my mouth (typing words on RP?)
The cause for concern is that this offense hasn't scared anyone all season. Yes, they put together a few nice outings, but the majority of our wins were close ones. If the pitching faulters, we're in trouble bucko. If the clutch hitting continues to be non existent, we're in trouble.. We gave up another unearned run today.. thats cause for concern..

Maybe the breaks didnt go our way. Maybe if the two balls caught on the wall go 5 feet further, the story is different. Maybe last night, Marze catches a break and gets a double play to get out of the inning or gets a strike called instead of a ball.

Geez people. We lost. Move on.

If you think our guys mailed it in, take it up with Robe. _
I don't think the team intentionally mailed it in. I do think that they have been hearing how they're in a regional no matter what happened this week, and the intensity they had been playing with over the last couple of months was non-existent today because of it.

Obviously no one wanted to go 2 and out. We all wanted our guys to win.

Just remember a similar instance this year:

    4/24/2010 LeMoyne L 6-5
    4/25/2010 LeMoyne W 8-5
    4/27/2010 at Tulane L 2-1

Obviously its different, but I think most can agree that we played poorly against Lemoyne on Saturday and Sunday and did well to comeback and get the series. We scored against them (similar to the Ark St game) but didnt play great. Then we followed that up with Tulane where we were outdueled though we had chances to put the game away. Again, not identical, but also a game that we couldnt hit (similar to MT).

All of a sudden, one of the best teams is coming to town and we seem to be stuttering at the wrong time. However, our boys pulled it together because they knew the situation and trusted in each other (which I believe they still do.)

    4/30/2010 Middle Tennessee W 3-1
    5/1/2010 Middle Tennessee W 6-4
    5/1/2010 Middle Tennessee W 2-1

Thing is, you can win with pitching, you can win with hitting, but either way, you win as a team. If you dont believe these guys can pull themselves up by their cleats and support our tremendous (still) pitching staff, then of course, we'll be done in the regionals pretty quick. But as most of us know, this team has more unity than almost any team since 2000. If we get out pitched or out hit, then it will probably come down to other teams having more talent, not heart

    /inspirational ramblings
