Severe storms producing locally damaging winds, funnel clouds and marble to quarter size hail pummeled portions of Acadiana and Southwest Louisiana this afternoon. Wind gusts as high as 60-70mph brought branches down in Acadia Parish and damaged portions of Westlake High School in Calcasieu Parish. There were numerous reports of marble to quarter size hail in Vermilion and Acadia parishes as well. Activity as of 645pm was weakening but storms are expected to stay active through 800pm as they drift from the north to the south.
In addition to tracking the storms on Power Doppler 3000, try the new KATC Interactive Storm Tracker.
