NEW IBERIA, La. (AP) - Narcotics agents with the Iberia Parish
Sheriff's Office have arrested a Carencro Middle School guidance
counselor on drug counts.
Lt. Ryan Turner, spokesman for the Sheriff's Office, said
Tuesday in a news release that 34-year-old Kenny Broussard was
arrested Monday in New Iberia.
Broussard was booked into the Iberia Parish
Jail on Monday with possession with intent to distribute cocaine
more than 200 grams, possession of drug paraphernalia, resisting
arrest and possession of a controlled dangerous substance within
1,000 feet of a school zone.
Angie Simoneaux, spokeswoman for the Lafayette Parish school
system, says that Broussard is now on leave with pay
pending the outcome of the investigation.
It was not immediately known whether Broussard has an attorney.
