Louisiana's battery mates Zach Osborne and Chad Keefer were bestowed All-Sun Belt Conference honors Tuesday evening at the league's annual Family Night held at Reese Smith, Jr., Field in Murfreesboro, Tenn.
Osborne was a member of the All-Sun Belt First Team marking the fifth time in the past six seasons that a Cajuns pitcher was named to the first team and 10th time overall under Tony Robichaux.
Keefer was a member of the All-Sun Belt Second Team becoming the first Cajuns catcher since Jonathan Lucroy (2007) to earn All-SBC honors.
The Cajuns have been represented on the All-Sun Belt team in each of the program's 19 seasons in the league and received mulitple honorees for the first time since 2007. There have been 54 All-SBC selections in the Robichaux Era.
Osborne leads all Sun Belt starting pitchers in ERA (2.54) and strikeouts (102). His ERA has been below 3.00 the entire season and has 12 quality starts and four complete games to his credit. The senior hurler ranks Top 30 nationally in ERA, strikeouts and victories.
Osborne led all pitchers with seven victories in SBC play and held opponents to .226 average (.222 in SBC play). He held opponents to three earned runs or less in 12 of 14starts and allowed a three-run inning only five times all season (106 1/3 total innings).
Keefer led the Sun Belt with 20 runners caught stealing and opponents were just 34-of-54 against him.
Over the past two weeks, Keefer has taken over as the team leader in home runs (15) and RBI (57) and also leads in base hits (72). During the two-week stretch he's batting .353 with a team-best 12 hits, four home runs and 16 RBI.
In Sun Belt play, Keefer hit .366 and led the league in runs scored (33), home runs (14), total bases (93), slugging percentage (.756) and was second in RBI (35).
Keefer, who has hit safely in 46 of 55 games, posted a 22-game hitting streak from March 6-April 9 which was one game shy of the school record.
The Ragin' Cajuns begin play in the 2010 Sun Belt Conference Tournament on Wednesday, May 26 against Arkansas State at 4 p.m., from Reese Smith, Jr. Field in Murfreesboro, Tenn.
