Thread: Aggies stumble into ’Dome

  1. UL Basketball Aggies stumble into ’Dome

NMSU has lost 7 of 10 entering tonight’s game.

LOUISIANA La. — The New Mexico State Aggies started the season 4-0, including a rousing 67-48 victory over in-state rival New Mexico.

Since that time, though, coach Lou Henson’s squad has struggled.

The Aggies have won just three of their last 10 games and enter tonight’s game against Louisiana with a 7-7 overall record and a 1-2 mark in Sun Belt Conference play.

But the Aggies do have senior forward James Moore, the preseason Player of the Year in the Sun Belt who bounced back from a sprained knee suffered last Thursday against New Orleans to play 34 minutes on Saturday against South Alabama.

“I was pleased to see Moore back in there,” Cajun coach Jessie Evans said. “I had a chance to know him better at the Nike camp last summer, and he’s an impressive young man.”

Moore is averaging 15.1 points and 7.0 rebounds per game for the Aggies and remains a focal point for the squad.
