Oh, Turbine...Ragin' Cajuns was coined by the SID at the time, Bob Henderson, not a coach.

Yes, thanks, Ive heard the version version that Bob Henderson came up with "Raging Cajuns" with a "g"

He ended up using it relentlessly (which was key to its success) but he did it without official university endorsement.

Eventually they bought in.

"Coach" Faulkinberry has a different story but he definitely jumped on board first then Track & Field.

Ragin Cajuns (without a g) was suggested by Faulkinberry because that's how his Cajun players were saying it no "g" and Bob Henderson jumped on the idea. He said it was his idea to use it the football team.

The 2003 La' Louisiane story is 'probably' closest to accurate.

You know what you won't find in any version of the Ragin' Cajuns story? That the University had to approve it first.
