CINCINNATI (AP) - San Jose State quarterback Scott Rislov and 17 other undrafted free agents signed two-year deals Tuesday with the Cincinnati Bengals.

Running back Nick Ayers, who attended a high school in Cincinnati and played at Georgetown College in Kentucky, was among the group. The Bengals hold training camp at Georgetown.

Also signing contracts were 10 offensive players: guards Tyronne Armstrong of Pittsburg State in Kansas and Ibrahim ''Obby'' Khan from Simon Fraser in Canada; receivers Jamall Broussard from San Jose State, Jeremiah Cockheran from Hawaii, Marlus Mays from Northern Iowa, and Lance Young from Iowa State; center Michael Powers from Penn; tight ends Michael Woolridge from Eastern Kentucky and Jonathan Pritchett from Houston, and fullback Alex Wade from Duke.

The defensive players were end Derrick Crawford from Texas A&M; tackles Mondre Dickerson from Tennessee and Eric Johnson from Mount St. Joseph in Cincinnati; linebacker Larry Stevens from Michigan, and safety Wendell Williams from Louisiana-Layfayette.

well i didn't get to hear that.. tell me it wasn't the stinking genius.. (smiling)

that's almost as bad as i heard a caller to his show say larry fitzgerald was going to be a bust in the nfl.. whoaa.. well, neither i believe is true..

my guess is a free agent signs on with a team for the agreed "signing bonus".. some bonuses may be that high.. but that high of a figure is rare and is gaged as to the number of teams wanting his services

then the rookie gets paid per week the typical price scale for rookies during camp.. (all monies paid during camp is extra money.. doesn't count against any contract money).. vets get a pay scale higher and the same whether having played 2 years or 12 years.. then if the FA makes the team.. he will get paid whatever amount he signed for that year.. which 100% of the time would be rookie minimum.. which i think is 230K for this season

just saw where the niners released fred.. doesn't seem he was able to distinquish himself from the numbers at the wr position.. obviously haven't talked with him, as he was just was released, to find out what transpired in his short stay.. i'd think he would get another try somewhere.. certainly hope so

on a completely different topic.. 1st "lunch bunch" wasn't too shabby .. saw 3 cajun coaches amongst the crowd rubbing elbows, as well as the bartel brothers and a "still active, over 21" cajun player.. my thanks to them

mental note: every wednesday in the watertower district

The 49ers released wide receiver Fred Stamps . . . Stamps, a rookie from Louisiana-Lafayette, struggled for time at the crowded receiver position.

  6. UL Football Jaguars pick up "Ragin' Cajun for Life" Fred Stamps

LOUISIANA La. — University of Louisiana’s Fred Stamps has found a second NFL home, before teams even hit the field for training camps next month.

Stamps, the second-most prolific pass receiver in Ragin’ Cajun history, has joined the Jacksonville Jaguars after signing a contract with that AFC South team this week.

He had originally signed a free agent deal with the San Francisco 49ers soon after the 2004 NFL Draft.

Stamps, a unanimous first team All-Sun Belt selection this past season, finished second in school history in receptions (180) and in yards (2,789) and third in touchdowns (19).

He was a second team All-Louisiana selection in 2003 and a First Team All-Sun Belt selection in 2002. Stamps owns the second (201) and third (198) best receiving yardage games in school history and the second (13) best reception game at UL Lafayette.

His three touchdown catches in the last game of his career tied a school record.

Stamps has the fourth and fifth best receiving yardage seasons and owns the fourth best reception season as a Cajun. He caught at least one pass in every college game, leaving the Cajuns with a receiving streak of 44 consecutive games, the fourth best streak in the nation, and longest in school history.

Damn, now the Saints are going to fall even farther down on my list.

    Panthers, obvious first choice...

Jags, DelRio married one of those gooood looking Brannon sisters, formerly of the Lafayette, RoSLUwn Blvd Brannons.
    Now they got Stamps.

    Go Panthers
    Go Jags
    go aints
