Just heard QB Mike Desormeaux signed with CFL's Calgary Stamps.

It would seem that could be a good move for his development considering that the Canadian league is more pass oriented with only three downs to get a first.

Talked with Mike today, he will be playing only qb with this team.

Really wish he would play another position. I don't think he can make it as a qb in the NFL, however, I do believe that he can play in the NFL as a WR or S. Would love for him to prove me wrong though!

Spoke with Mike earlier today. He wanted to go after this chance. Calgary owned his rights, so it was the only CFL team with which he could talk. He made the move more for next year than this one.

I sort of like CFL football. They have some quirky rules, like the three downs you mentioned. They have others like, if I am correct, having to field a punt, and the backfield can be in motion prior to the snap. Also, the size of the field is different, they award rouge point, etc.

Takes a little getting accustomed to, which I did when stationed in N Dak, and had opportunities to view Winnipeg games in person.
