Welcome home! You picked a great time to find your way back!Originally Posted by BTG
Appreciate your insight into the comments at the luncheon. I've never been able to attend one. I have the kind of job where I'm virtually held prisoner during my work hours, but a girl can dream.
Did Coach Bustle specifically mention putting Des in at the QB position at Troy? Or was it just a general mention that he'd get playing time?
Thanks for the welcome back!!Originally Posted by CajunKate
He specifically mentioned he'd get playing time at QB....and he left very little doubt about it...he defended Jerry, but you could tell,....he regretted not giving Mike a series, if nothing more to let Jerry get recomposed. Not to think that he is thinking of changing the starter, he left it clear, Jerry is the man,...but he is going to give Mike a chance here and there to 'spark em'...and he was EMPHATIC that Mike would get a couple series at QB at Troy, no matter what was going on.
thats a lie he led the back ups in varsity vs varsity during practiceOriginally Posted by CajunCool

Im not so much worried about the momentum, I think that its essential to get Jerry on the sideline and let him see what the defense is doing from the sideline. I think it would help him do better. We should do something similar to what Florida does with Leake and Tebow, or Louisville did with Brohm and Lefors.Originally Posted by DDD Cajun

Welcome back! I was at UL from Jan. 73 -May 76, then did a stint in the Coast Guard and finished from 80-82. '74 was a pretty good year for me! And I didn't even know Zeebart or Dr. Funk back then!Originally Posted by BTG
Maybe NOT knowing Z and Fungus was what made '74 a good year.Originally Posted by RaginFan2
regardless if he was put in at quarterback or not, the ball should have been put in his hands somehow. There is no way the coaching staff can justify not getting him touches when your down by three touchdowns. If you are going to let him run at receiver throw him the damn ball! He is our most explosive player, we have got to get it in his hands a couple times a game. How about a reverse, then come back with a reverse pass and catch the defense sleeping for a quick score. Let him return punts let the kid do what he does and thats win! You can;t worry about a kid getting hurt b/c if it happens it happens and you move on. You think sean payton takes reggie bush out b/c he does'nt want him to get hurt?
I will not argue with anyone about the fact that Babb is a better passer than Desormeaux but we run 80% of the time and every team we play knows that we are going to run. I don't think anyone of you will argue with me if I say that Desormeaux is a bigger threat running the ball. So if we run 80% of the time and throw 20% (this is just my guess I haven't actually looked at the stats) why isn't Desormeaux in the game.
On our 5 game winning streak at the end of last year our run/pass ratio was 6/1. Saturday it was 5/4. Lest you think we passed Saturday because they were stopping the run; we averaged 5.1 yards/carry, with no long runs to skew the mean.Originally Posted by 2 ul 0105
I agree with most of what was said here, too. I've been saying all along that we should use the 2 qbs much like Florida uses their two. Mike D can come in and change the pace of the offense and really make things happen. The fact is this--yes, Babb may be a better throwing QB, but he's scared to get hit. And he's not completing the passes. Two of his int's were thrown off of his back foot when he saw pressure getting to him. Perhaps he needed to see things from the sidelines for a little while to get his mojo back. Either way, he's not cutting the mustard right now. And I know that they weren't all his fault, some were recievers, etc. But how does that change the fact that we're not getting it done in the air?
Do I think Mike is the answer to all of the problems? No. But he couldn't have done worse. We were going into our 8th straight quarter without scoring an offensive touchdown last Saturday. We only scored on their 2nd or 3rd team while they were in a soft prevent. There's no way that Mike could have not added a spark to the team.
It's my understanding that Coach Bustle told Mike that he would get 5 series against MTSU. It's stupid to deny him the opportunity when it could only have led to better results, and it's horrible to not fulfill that promise when all signs point to better things happening if he's in. I hope that coach doesn't renege on his word this weekend.
Finally, I'll say this. I hated our play-calling this weekend. I know that they want to establish the pass, but when it ain't working, and the run is...I'd rather win the game. I'm not one to second guess a coach, they know a lot more than me...but I was disgusted with some of what I saw last weekend. That being said, I'm still a Cajun fan til I die, and I'll always support the team, win or lose. I just hope that we can correct some of these mistakes and win more than the alternative.
