Where? On injured reserve? Just kidding, I think he would make for a pretty good #4 receiver behing Colston, Devery, and whoever else they pick up. But I do believe he's much better than Copper and Jones when healthy.Originally Posted by JMVCAJUNS

He's got a long way to go. From the looks of it, he failed a physical and was cut because of that.Originally Posted by JMVCAJUNS
CJR is right, we would be placing an IR candidate year in and out, with another. Stokely has had lots of injury problems the last few years, and i would rather see the saints pick up someone who doesn't have those issues.
Additionally, I think the Saints need a second reciever, as opposed to a 3rd or fourth. I am still not sold on Devery Henderson. He had a good year this year, but he hasn't really proven that he can do anything consistently but run fast. I'm not impressed with his hands, and I've never been impressed with his short and intermediate route running skills. So, I think the saints need a more proven #2 guy, that has those better skills. you don't want your second best reciever to ONLY be a deep threat.
I was hoping to see Brandon go out with a decent year like Brian Mitchell did in his last year . . . even though he was not resigned either. Brian still had game.
Until Brandon proves he can stay healthy (I don't know how you do that in the offseason) if anyone picks him up it would be as a 4th or 5th receiver.
I wonder if the opportunity to play with Jake would be a good idea?
No offense to the recievers you named, but when Stokely is healthy is the best slot reciever in the NFL. Henderson, Copper, Horn or Jones are not as sure handed or as fast as Stokely with maybe Henderson on the speed end.Originally Posted by rhineaux
I AGREE DEVERY HANDS ARE SUSPECT AND BRANDON WHEN? HEALTHY IS ONE OF THE BEST SLOT GUYS IN THE NFL...IF BRANDON GOES TO CAROLINA AND HOOKS UP WITH STEVE SMITH AND KEYSHAWN JOHNSON THEY COULD BECOME DANGEROUS...
and that would be a good thing!Originally Posted by JMVCAJUNS

NEW ORLEANS - Free agent wide receiver Brandon Stokley on Thursday visited the New Orleans Saints, team officials said.
Stokley was released by the Super Bowl champion Indianapolis Colts at the beginning of the NFL's free agency period.
Stokley, a standout at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette, signed with the Colts as a free agent in 2003. It was Stokley who caught quarterback Peyton Manning's NFL-record 49th touchdown pass in the 2004 season - a year in which Stokley posted career highs of 68 receptions for 1,077 yards and 10 touchdowns as the Colts' slot receiver.
An eight-year veteran, Stokley missed most of the Colts' 2006 championship season with knee and Achilles tendon injuries but was with the team in Miami for the Super Bowl. He has 199 career receptions for 2,829 yards and 22 touchdowns and won a Super Bowl with the Baltimore Ravens after the 2000 season, catching the first touchdown in a 34-7 win over the New York Giants.

Nelson tore his knee up in college, and Brandon has had several injuries in his college and pro career that have kept him off the field for long stretches of time. He tore up his knee in college and now as a pro along with the other less damaging injuries. Maybe it is time Brandon thinks about what he will feel like at forty or fifty. It is obviously his call, I just have some concerns about his health.![]()

When healthy, Brandon Stokely would be the Saints #2 WR of their current staff. Stokely is a very underrated WR with EXCELLENT routes. The deal with him is/was he was on a team with 2 #1 WRs and then he was bitten by the injury bug.
With all that said, what are all of the Arnold fans going to do, now the Saints have a Cajun for the them to route for??? Assuming/if he signs with the Saints.

You can be a great receiver, have a great day, lose and still be seen as being a winner. The quarterback can have exactly the same things but be seen as a loser.
In any case on a head to head decision every man for himself. I am now a free agent NFL fan just like players, owners, and coaches. Loyalty to the fans went out the door about the time Al Davis left Oakland for no good reason. Further erosion when the players got free agency. There is no reason to pull for a particular pro franchise. Pull for the team that provides you with whatever enjoyment you get from the NFL game.![]()
