It had been a full day, like so many before it. But it wasn't complete.
It was time for Cameron.
Shortly after 5 p.m. Thursday, Brandon Stokley followed the playful, loping lead of his 2-year-old son into the backyard of their Carmel home. They converged at the swing set, which kept Cameron's attention long enough for a trip down the slide and a few pushes on a swing.
Lana, Brandon's wife of four years, looked on from the patio and smiled as father and son shared more quality time.
"He absolutely adores Cameron," she said, "so it's easy for him to be here. It's not like I'm forcing him to be home.
"Brandon loves being home and he loves spending time with his family."
Brandon Stokley, a veteran wide receiver with the Indianapolis Colts, admitted it can be difficult to strike an appropriate balance during the offseason that satisfies every responsibility and desire.
But that balancing act is a must when you're a husband and father who happens to be a professional football player, not to mention an avid golfer.
"It's a fine line," Stokley said, his T-shirt stained with sweat following another workout at the Colts' Union Federal Football Center. "You've got to get your work done here. And I'm the type of person that I have to get my golf in.
