  1. UL Baseball Sun Belt Tournament Seeds ...

At this point, we know that Middle Tennessee will be the #3 seed. Hence, earning the #1 seed will mean that the Cajuns will be on the other side of the bracket from the home team. Earning the #2 seed puts the Cajuns in the Blue Raiders' bracket. Hopefully the Cajuns get some help from FIU tomorrow.

One of FAU and UL will be the #1 seed and the other will be the #2 seed.

As of the end of today (assuming the Cajuns hold on) we have ...

    #1 Florida Atlantic 20-9
    #2 Louisiana 20-9
    #3 Middle Tennessee 18-11
    #4 Florida International 17-12
    #5 Troy 16-13
    #6 South Alabama 16-13
    #7 Arkansas State 16-13
    #8 Western Kentucky 15-14

Yes but do we want to face the best pitcher in the league in game 1?

  3. #3

Assuming ridings is ok, I will take UL and FAU in a tie for 1st at 21-9 and a 2 seed for the cajuns

I'm just glad we've secured no worse than the #2, which no doubt comes with a regional berth. From 4-8 to 20-9 is mind boggling.

Make it 21-9 and I will be happy.

    #6 South Alabama 16-13
    #7 Arkansas State 16-13
    #8 Western Kentucky 15-14
A quick calculation (and I may have rushed it) shows that Western Kentucky can only be a #7 seed if the following happens (note that I am not taking into account any cancellations or ties) ...

    * WKU beats Middle Tennessee to finish 16-14
    * Troy defeats South Alabama to finish 17-13 while South Alabama finishes 16-14
    * Arkansas State wins to finish 17-13

This would leave WKU in a tie with South Alabama. The Hilltoppers own the head-to-head tiebreaker and would earn the #7 seed with South Alabama earning the #8 seed.

If ASU were to lose and finish 16-14 (and everything else above holds), South Alabama wins the three-way tiebreaker. In the three-way tiebreaker, all teams would be 3-3 vs. each other ... thus the tiebreaker goes to record vs. #1 seed. Here, South Alabama wins the tiebreaker if FAU is the #1 seed (only team with a win vs. FAU). If UL is the #1 seed, WKU is eliminated (1-2 vs. UL while ASU and USA are 2-1 vs. UL). Then the head-to-head (ASU vs. USA) would be evaluated with USA winning and earning the #6 seed.

WKU also loses the three-way tiebreaker with Troy and ASU.

The key for WKU earning a #7 seed is getting into a two-way tiebreaker with South Alabama.

Osborne is the best pitcher in the league.

I would be surprised if the #2 pitcher in the league, Matt Ridings, is able to go on Wednesday.

We now know that the Cajuns will be the #2 seed. Thus, the Cajuns will be on the same side of the bracket as Middle Tennessee (#3 seed).

With UALR leading ASU 14-7 T7th, it looks like Western Kentucky will be the #8 seed.
