METAIRIE, La. (AP) - The Jefferson Parish Sheriff's Office is
investigating the discovery of a man's body found floating in the
Mississippi River.
The East Jefferson Levee District contacted the sheriff's office
Thursday after the body was found in the river, at River Road and
the River Batture in Metairie.
The sheriff's office said the body appeared to have been in the
water for "quite some time."
Homicide investigators are treating it as an "unclassified
death" pending the results of an autopsy.
