BATON ROUGE, La. (AP) - State agencies have spent more than $5
million so far to combat the still-growing oil spill in the Gulf of
Mexico.
Those agencies estimate the spending could top more than $20
million by the end of the budget year June 30.
The cost estimates were disclosed at the Legislature's joint
budget committee meeting Wednesday.
Officials from the governor's Division of Administration say
dollars from oil company BP PLC and the federal government are
covering all state costs.
