OPELOUSAS, La. (AP) - Authorities says Sandra Joseph of
Lafayette, charged with the death of her son, has been ruled
competent to stand trial.
Frank Trosclair, first assistant St. Landry Parish District Attorney, tells The Daily World a trial date is expected to be set for January.
The 50-year-old Joseph is accused of repeatedly striking her son with her sport utility vehicle near Grand Coteau.
Joseph was indicted on the murder charge in the Feb. 21, 2009 death of her 11-year-old son, Samuel Udomeh.
Joseph had been put on forced leave a month earlier from her job at the Lafayette office of Louisiana Rehabilitation Services for what her employer described as manic and paranoid behavior.
