Thread: Tuesday night's effect on RPI

  1. UL Baseball Tuesday night's effect on RPI

    The Cajun RPI currently breaks down into the following components .

    WP -> .6667 (25%)
    OWP -> .5565 (50%)
    OOWP -> .5165 (25%)
    ---
    RPI -> .5741

    The below assumes that other than the result of the UL - McNeese State game, Cajun opponents and Cajun opponents' opponents will maintain the above winning percentages. The below also assumes that the Cajuns still fail to qualify for an RPI bonus (Northwestern State continues to fall outside of the Top 75 Base RPI).

    A Cajun win boosts their RPI to .5757. Adjusted RPI would also be .5757. This would be good for an ordinal ranking of 33 in today's Adjusted RPI (holding other team's Adjusted RPI constant).

    A Cajun loss lowers their RPI to .5706. Adjusted RPI would also be .5706. This would be good for an ordinal ranking of 37 in today's Adjusted RPI (holding other team's Adjusted RPI constant).

    I like the series of RPI following we have been doing for the last couple weeks. Brings a real sense at how a 56 game season is one game at a time.
