For the 12th consecutive season, Louisiana's Ragin' Cajuns softball team has earned a bid into the NCAA Regionals and will participate in the Baton Rouge Regional hosted by LSU.
The Regional appearance is the 20th in Ragin' Cajuns' history as the Cajuns won the Sun Belt's automatic bid with their 10th Sun Belt Conference Tournament Championship in the last 11 years.
The Cajuns (42-16) will face Texas A&M (42-14) in the opening round on Friday, May 21.
LSU (44-14), the No. 12 national seed, will face McNeese State (38-25) in its opening game.
The winner of the Baton Rouge Regional will face winner of the Los Angeles Regional featuring UCLA, St. Mary's (CA), Fresno State and San Diego State for the right to go to the 2009 Women's College World Series.
The last time the Cajuns went to Baton Rogue, La. for a NCAA Regional was in 2008. UL defeated East Carolina and Louisiana State, twice, en route to its appearance in the 2008 Women's College World Series.
