I think you may be onto something here............ This weekend showed me a ton... Ozzie pitched great Friday night and we lost a gut wrencher.... then Saturday night we take a lead and see it evaporate.... 6th inning and we suddenly find ourselves down 2.... But the team would not quit. Then today we fall behind again.... and again the team would not quit.... from 14-14 this team has been fighting to be something special. The next few weeks still have to play out but I think they are on the verge of being special......

Kudos to this team, and the homecrowd. Friday(as well as all weekend) was just great college baseball. Two great arms going at it. The thing that I'm most impressed with was the grit, determination, or whatever word u wanna use, when things turned on us and looked like they may not go our way. There were a few times over the course of the weekend when it looked like it may be slipping away, but we always managed to come back strong. And I can't say enough about how impressive TFred has been. He has got to be freshman of the year

We have road sweeps at UALR and UNO. ULM is sandwiched between the two in conference standings, so nothing would punctuate this special season better than to sweep the Warhawks on their own turf!

    I'm liking our chances.

While I would love to see TFred win that award, Jabari Henry of FIU will probably win it.

Note ULM cannot qualify for the conference tournament. Therefore they have nothing to play for except pride. Of course that is the most important reason you play to begin with and although their season will end Sunday, they would love to spoil our season. Teams in situations like that can be dangerous. On the other hand, if you get a lead on them they may not respond well due to their circumstance.

Now, you know there is not a definite number that guarantees you are in. Much depends on the play of others ... including conference tournament results. But I would say that playing .500 ball the rest of the way likely would have the Cajuns in the tournament. I do think that winning a conference tournament game should be in the mix. But this is not necessarily a requirement if the Cajuns finish strong in the regular season.

Securing the #2 spot in the Sun Belt (not just conference finish, but #2 in the NCAA selection pecking order) is what the Cajuns have accomplished this past weekend. This is extremely important. The Cajuns have a considerably better RPI than Middle Tennessee, Florida International, and South Alabama (the only possible contenders for the #2 spot in the Sun Belt NCAA selection pecking order). They also have a 1 game lead (with tiebreaker) over Middle and two game leads over USA and FIU, heading into the final weekend. Meanwhile, the Cajuns get ULM while Middle plays a talented and desperate WKU squad while FIU gets FAU. Sweeps by Middle or FIU are unlikely.

... and, while nobody is talking about this ... if the Cajuns can pick up just one game on FAU next weekend, they would be Sun Belt co-champs. Regardless of the conference tournament seeding, this is a regular season championship.

Just FYI on Monroe. Last years SBC Newcomer of the Year, Boomer Blanchard, and their Sunday Starter, Jordy Poche, are both out because of injuries. I'm pretty sure they won't be back this weekend.

However things need to work out so that we do NOT play WKU in game 1!

Well, Blanchard was an all conference player a year ago, but struggled this year. Poche was not all conference talent.
