An Acadiana boom distributor is concerned with how BP is handling the cleanup in the Gulf of Mexico. Abbeville's Gulf Firm Navigation is capable of distributing some 10,000 feet of boom every week, but instead of being out in the Gulf, the boom is just sitting at it's Abbeville warehouse.
"We've been in contact with BP, with the state and one of the things is BP's unwillingness to even work with us," says the company's vice-president Dominic Campisi.
Campisi says he first contacted BP two weeks ago, but has not heard anything since, and fears his attempt to help out in the Gulf is getting caught up in red tape.
"We've been contacting, and contacting, people left and right but just no one will talk to us, give us an answer, we've already sent them every document that they've asked for and they will not do anything," Campisi said.
A spokesperson for BP could not comment on Campisi's complaint, but did say they have a very specific vetting process for the booms that are used in the Gulf.
