I should clarify, that's how Jon was listed in the Rivals database last year, for his senior year of high school.

Morgan enrolled at ULM not the University of Louisiana.

    ULM football class keeps rising

    August 7, 2003

The Louisiana-Monroe football recruiting class just keeps growing.

Former West Monroe defensive tackle D.J. Ernst signed with the Indians on Wednesday while former Evangel linebacker Jon-Michael Morgan has transferred to ULM from Baylor. ULM announced Tuesday that Evangel linebacker Ben Murphy had signed as well.

"You get young men from winning programs and they know what it is to work hard," Weatherbie said. "They expect to win. I really believe that you have to believe in yourself and expect good things to happen."

Ernst, a 6-2, 275-pounder who was recruited by Auburn, Clemson and Southern Miss, had back surgery in February. But Weatherbie hasn't ruled him out to play this season, pending his rehab.

"We believe that he's a young man that can step in and play for us in a hurry," Weatherbie said. "He's a big-time football player - a defensive lineman, which are hard to come by.

Asked if Ernst would redshirt, Weatherbie said, "It just depends on how he comes along medically. That's our thought. But it might be that after our first or second game, he's ready to play. We may need him and he might want to play."

Morgan (6-2, 228) enrolled at Baylor at midterm after the 2002 season and went through spring drills with the Bears. He made 59 tackles with one interception in 14 games for the Class 5A state champions last season.

"He's a transfer and he'll have to sit a year," Weatherbie said. "But he's a linebacker we feel good about."
