I don't know. I'm trying to think outside of the box. I thought maybe Historically Black Colleges had some sort of RPI bonus. Stupid, I know.

The less "connected" an opponent is to your OOWP, the less affect it has on your RPI? _
    No.

    Out of conference road game?

RPI Bonuses do not factor in. You can think of this simply in terms of the Base RPI.

    Think about the formula itself.

Lets state what we know about the scenarios:

    SU
    2nd time we played them
    Out of conference road game
Win to go to 2-0 vs them
    Better record than UNO

    UNO
    3rd time we played them
    In conference road series
Win to go to 3-0 vs them
    Bad record

Lets go with something to do with it being out of conference and possibly on the road

Its probably something staring us in the face LOL

If you are implying bonuses, I said that RPI bonuses are not a factor.

This involves strictly the Base RPI.

Are there penalties for playing either UNO or Southern? If so, maybe the penalty is higher for UNO than Southern?

No to the guess. In fact, it is the Southern OWP that drags the Cajuns' RPI down (which is part of the Cajuns' OOWP calc).

If UL has W/W or L/L to Southern/UNO, it would not matter. Simply playing either one has the same effect.

    Factor out all/any bonuses penalties.

But to answer your questions, there are no penalties here.

Think strictly the Base RPI, not the Adjusted RPI.

Part of the solution is in the above.

It has nothing to do with being out of conference or on the road. Adjusted RPI does not factor in either.

2 wins for every loss ... another season sweep ... because UL was due for a break???

We've simply played UNO more times?

Not a factor. Everything is properly weighted.

    Southern's WPct vs UNO's WPct

The fact that SU has a better record than UNO and that's reflected in our OWP of our RPI.
