The joy was evident in Rev. Roy Kibodeaux’s face.
Kibodeaux, who runs Crowley’s Welcome House, a home for those who have fallen on hard times and are looking for a second chance, has watched his operation grow from one room at the Rice City Hotel in 1975 into a shelter that now provides 4,000 meals a month and is soon to be a 5,000 ft. piece of property.
Monday night at the The Crossing of Mervine Kahn banquet hall in Rayne a full house was on hand to help raise money (tickets were $100 per couple) for the Welcome House and to keep the construction and renovations is moving along. Several area dignitaries including the evening’s guest speaker U.S. Representative Charles Boustany were on hand to support the Welcome House.
