Standout receiver Robbins sides with Cajuns
LOUISIANA La. — The University of Louisiana’s football team hasn’t received a lot of verbal commitments from wide receivers this recruiting season, and that suits Kevin Robbins just fine.
The 6-foot-2 1/2, 190-pound product of Crockett (Texas) High gave Ragin’ Cajun head coach Rickey Bustle a verbal commitment over the weekend, becoming the squad’s 10th commitment and the first from a wide receiver.
“That made me feel pretty good,” Robbins said Tuesday. “They told me they’re not giving out a lot of scholarships to receivers, so I felt good about stepping in and playing some.”
But Robbins added he has no second thoughts about redshirting if it would mean adding size and bulk during his first year.
“I really liked their strength and conditioning program,” Robbins said. “That’s where I need to work. I know I want to get bigger, and even if that means redshirting I wouldn’t mind that.”
