This past week the Louisiana State Senate passed Senate Bill 533 by Senator Eric La Fleur which
provides greater authority and power to local principals and teachers regarding the purchase of
teaching materials with state dollars.
"The new law would provide the option to school officials and teachers to use their allocation of
state dollars to buy more than just printed and bound text books,” said Senator La Fleur.
"Currently, local school systems are restricted on what teaching materials they can purchase
with state dollars.”
